Abstract
Preweaning performance, especially weaning weight, is one of the most important factors in determining the economic returns from beef cattle. The performance of a calf is strongly influenced by nursing ability or milking ability of its dam (Neville 1962, Wistrand and Riggs 1966, Robison et 41,, 1978).
