In the estimation of breeding values for bulls and cows the performance in the first l actation is of great importance. Many breeders blame that this kind of selection takes the wrong way. This kind of calculating the breeding value forces heifers to produce maximum yield already in the first lactation. Cows would then be overcharged with the consequence on an early disposal. Only those cows would become old which begin slowly. For the breeding, however, such animals cannot be taken into consideration, because their breeding value ist too low.
