Evidence from studies on estim ating the effects of single loci other than m ilk proteins has been accum ulating. Studies have suffered from lack of statistical design, diversity of assum ptions, low pow er to detect differences, m ultiple testing using high probability of chance associations, and inadequate analyses. Loci selected here w ere confirm ed in at least tw o independent sam ples to im prove confidence in results. Evidence for major genes segregating w ithin highly selected populations is presented
