Reproduction records on 2437 sows as well as growth and body measurement traits recorded on 522 replacement pigs, between 1998 and 2004 on Zhenghong Swine Breeding Farm, were analyzed by MTDFREML. The traits which were analyzed included total number of piglets born (TNB), number of piglets born alive (NBA), litter weight at birth (LWB), litter weight at 21 d (LW21), backfat thickness at 100 kg (BF100), age at 100 kg (AGE100), body weight at 180 d (BW180), body height at 180 d (BH180), chest girth at 180 d (CG180), body length at 180 d (BL180) and hip girth at 180 d (HG180). The results showed that the heritability estimates of reproductive traits ranged from 0.12 to 0.21, heritability estimates of BW180 and BF100 were 0.52 and 0.55 respectively, heritability estimates of body measurements ranged from 0.20 to 0.36. The litter effects (c2) of growth traits ranged from 0.18 to 0.38.
